Best-Fit Applications for PETG

PETG via FDM is commonly selected for:

  • Typical build envelope: up to approximately 1,000 × 600 × 600 mm (part size and geometry dependent)
  • Typical tolerance references for FDM: ±0.2 mm or ±0.3% (whichever is larger). Guaranteed tolerance requires engineering review.

Post-Processing and Functional Finishing

Available options may include:

  • Blasting, sanding, polishing, vapor smoothing, dyeing, painting, marking
  • Threaded inserts, tapping, drilling
  • CNC secondary machining on critical surfaces or interfaces (as agreed for the project)

FDM parts have visible layer lines; cosmetic expectations and finishing requirements should be specified.

For tighter features or higher surface detail, SLA may be considered after review.

For nylon-based production parts with complex geometry, SLS or MJF may be recommended.

Guaranteed tolerances, specific finishes, and inspection plans require engineering review.
