Material Guide
ABS 3D Printing for Functional Industrial Parts
A practical FDM/FFF material option for functional prototypes, fixtures, housings, brackets, and engineering validation parts.
Where ABS Fits
RapidPrintParts processes ABS through FDM/FFF for engineering validation parts, fixtures, housings, ducts, brackets, and custom replacement components. The application and operating environment should be reviewed before material selection.
Design and Process Review
Provide the intended use, load, temperature, quantity, critical dimensions, finish, and target milestone. A STEP/STP model and 2D drawing help identify build orientation, support requirements, wall thickness, insert locations, and dimensions requiring inspection.
Tolerance Reference
A typical FDM reference is ±0.2 mm or ±0.3%. This is not a blanket guarantee. Achievable tolerance depends on geometry, size, orientation, and post-processing and must be confirmed through engineering review.
Finishing Options
Depending on geometry and project requirements, post-processing may include sanding, polishing, painting, marking, inserts, tapping, drilling, or CNC secondary machining.
